The Neolithic Revolution was a big turning point. It basically changed cave man into farmers. This way people had more food so the population grew. Eventually all theses people grew into cities and these cities had richer soil because they eventually turned into river valleys which had silt.

The European Union

The European Union was a good thing because it help people's traveling easier. Without the EU, every time you crossed a border yu had to be checked in order to go into the next country. You are now able to ship products freely without any hassle between European Union Members.

The US and the USSR were competing in this movie because the US was a capitalist nation and the USSR was communist. They tried to make eveyone communist along with them because they dont believe in the capitalist beliefs. Communist won because they had alot of help. I think the scene where they was building the weapons reminded me of the Cold War.

Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missile Crisis was the hottest moment of the cold war because it was the closest we ever got to a nuclear war. Cuba was worried and afraid of being attacked by the United States and not being ready for it. The Soviet Union placed missiles around Cuba's borders to protect them.Fidel Castro felt the second attack was near. The Soviet Union did these missile installations very secretly, but the United States revealed these photographs of the installations and informed the president of them. Later on Cuba made a proposition to take out the missiles only if the US guarantees not to invade them. They were real close to the end, and they are trying never to get that close again.

NATO and the Warsaw Pact

The countries of Europe were too weak politically and militarily to prevent the spread of the communist "iron curtain" on a nation. NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) was a mutual defence alliance that protected thev countries in it if the other ones get attacked. The countries that was in the NATO were countries in Europe and North America.

The Warsaw Pact, which was originally Warsaw Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assisstance was established 6 years after NATO. This formed as a communist militay alliance to maintain power over Europe.

Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk) and the Modernization of Turkey

Mustafa Kemal (aka: Ataturk) modernized Turkey by introducing European Hats instead of wearing the fez, the women used to wear veils, the citizens took surnames and they also introduced the western calender instead of using the Islamic calendar. Secular means pertaining to worldly things or to thing that are not reguardede as religious,spritual or sacred.

Gandhi

Gandhi helped his nation of India gain Independence from Great Britain by his philosophy of non-violence. He encouraged the Indians not to buy/use British Goods. He wove his own clothing with a spinning wheel and the other Indians started using them as well. The spinning wheel is a symbol of India's struggle for Independence from Britain. He walked for miles and miles looking for salt for the Indians because without salt they would die from the heat and dehydration. I think India's Independence was partly about Gandhi because he was a strong bright man and I doubt there was another person in India that would have done have the things he did.

The Treaty of Versailles (ended WW I)

The Treaty of Versailles was a whole bunch of rules that Germany had to follow after they lost WWI. WWI was faught by the Allied Powers against the Central Powers. Some of this stated that Germany had to lose some of their land to different countries, along with their war productions and 12% of their population. I think historians say that the Treaty of Versailles led to the rise of facism and Adolph Hitler because
